Deb and I were stunned to hear of Ed’s passing. After he and Karen had dodged and weaved all of life’s obstacles, they were finally able to enjoy a retirement well deserved. We didn’t think of Ed as a friend, more as a brother from another mother. We met 25 years ago, backing a tent trailer into campsite at night and this slow calm voice from the next campsite calls out “having your spouse give directions backing in a trailer is the test to a marriage”. We shared stories over the weekend and realized we had a lot of common interests and daughter of the same age. From that moment we made a lasting friendship with the warmest, friendliest, and most transparent couple you could ever meet. Whether it had been a month or 5 years since we last got together, conversations would just pick up. We’re so glad we got to see Ed and Karen enjoying their new life in Albuquerque, certainly not for long enough but nice to see they made the most of this time together. Ed, we hope you’re catching the jet stream in the brightest balloon over the Albuquerque skies, we miss you.
