Danny Chithappa was the kind of uncle every child should have. I remember him fawning over me when I’d come to visit for summer holidays, Annie Chithi’s fried chicken, riding on the back of his scooter holding onto him. Every time Chithappa visited, it was like Christmas came early with all the movies he’d bring for me to watch. I remember looking into his face and seeing my Dad, different but still with that same sense of comfort and reassurance. It feels like I’ve lost one of those pillars I thought was unbreakable. The world is a smaller place without you, Danny Chithappa, and I miss you.
