One of Alex' favourite movies was "Havanna" with Robert Redford. A film about a man who risked it all for what he is passionate about and believes in. To me Alex was always like this larger-than-life character in the film – a risk-taking gambler, who always seems to have an ace up his sleeve when things get tough. Yet there was also a deeper, melancholic and philosophical side to him.

Alex and I first met in Singapore in 2005 and our paths crossed many times – in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, in Munich and also in small-town Mußbach and Mülheim/Germany (where the photo was taken).

Alex left his mark on earth. This is what counts.
He is gone, but never will he be forgotten.
