I did not know Rebecca as an adult, but I knew her quite well for the first 12 years of her life, for she was born to Ronald and Miriam, my closest friends in St. Louis. Rebecca was cute, incredibly witty, and amazingly smart, as one might expect, considering her parents. She loved things in large groups: a whole line-up of stuffed animals, or My Little Ponies, as you see in this photo taken on my back deck in south St. Louis. We liked to play My Little Ponies together. I also loved the Christmas cards she drew for her parents well into her twenties, I think. Oh, Rebecca--you should have lived 40 more years.
