Dear Holly,

I hope that you have heard from most of the Grier “sisters” who all loved Candy. Our memories of being at Grier are so strong and so vivid that I can almost put myself back at school, running to the barn, riding with your mother, and laughing at stupid jokes or things we did. Our childhood there was amazing and it gave us a bond that is incredible. My husband and my daughter were amazed at the closeness and the love and support given to me by my Grier “sisters” when my brother was dying a few years ago. Yes, we are an amazing group who really love and care for each other. I don’t believe there is another Grier class of young ladies who have been so devoted as ours. I cherish each and every one of them.

Our reunions are so much fun, we immediately revert to a bunch of 15 and 16 year olds and never stop laughing. I wish I could think of the names of the two ladies your mother introduced us to in NM last year in October. They could have easily been Grier girls - just the type - attractive, very down to earth, and loquacious!

Here is a picture of us at Santa Fe, L-R: Janet (Harton) Von Twistern, me, Candy, Gail Malcolm. Gail and I were roommates our senior year and Mr. Grier told us that "if it hadn’t been for the two of us, we would have had the best graduating class in the last 10 years!” Gail and I were very mischievous! But a tad later, Mr. Grier said he hoped we would never change. We both gave him a hug. And… we are still the same!

Give my best to your sisters and know that we are all mourning with you. Not seeing Candy at our next reunion (if the pandemic allows it!) will be a huge void.
