I met John during the Summer of 2017 during Chicago Marathon training. His intelligence, quick wit, and affability made him a great pacer—running with John made the miles go by fast! After learning John lived near me, we started running together regularly, along with Carol, who had discovered John’s charm years before me. We eventually dubbed our trio “Team Busy Burger” because we started our morning runs near Busy Burger on Taylor St. Over the last four years, I ran countless miles with John and enjoyed every single one. John’s calm energy, humor, and subtle quirkiness made him an ideal running partner and a great friend. John was the salt of the earth. I’m grateful for the all the miles with John and will miss him dearly. John was a genuine person and a true friend. My deepest condolences to the Klaus family. I love you John.
