We came to know Catherine through various school activities. My husband was a co-docent with her for art-in-action when Thomas and our daughter were in 5th grade. He always remarked how prepared Catherine was for the lessons with notes on the artist, style, history, and other details.

She was everywhere, doing so much for the school community. She did all her work with such grace. Many a time, I saw how contentious conversations and meetings would get, but Catherine would let all the drama just float by and focus on the task at hand. She fervently believed in the value of the work.

We came closer when she led our kid’s Destination Imagination team as the coach and team manager. We were constantly amazed by her tenacity and hard work, especially when no obvious reward was forthcoming. Most of all, I remember her for being the kind soul that came to my child’s plays to support her performances. Despite everything she had going on, she still bothered to take time out of her day to come and show support.

Very rarely in life have I met such a beautiful soul. She was taken away from us way too early. We hope and pray that she is at peace and that her family will get through these dark days and weeks knowing that they are surrounded by the community’s love.
