Christmas in my family is a wild 24 hour event. We cook together, we play wild games while opening presents, we play pool and, when we had one, spend the wee hours of the morning sipping on wine and soaking in the jacuzzi laughing and catching up. I have always looked forward to our Christmas get togethers, not only because of the fun we have, but because for the last 16 or 17 years I only ever got to see my brother Keith and his lovely wife Tania at Christmas when they came to visit from their home in Italy.

One of my all time favorite and funniest memories was from about 6 or 7 years ago. Our parents, Michael and Jennifer, wanted to retire earlier than in previous years. My brothers and sisters and I wanted to keep the party going so we all walked down to my brother Aaron’s house just 2 doors down. We did what we always do. We talked and laughed as siblings do. Tease each other and laugh at each other. I want to say it was about 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning when Tania and I decided to retire. Of course Keith, Aaron and Ryan were not nearly done with their annual brotherly bonding. So Tania and I excused ourselves and walked back to my parents house arm in arm, leaning on each other since neither one of us had the ability to balance ourselves.

To put this story in the proper context there is one thing you must know.

I offered up my room for Keith and Tania for their stay because my bed was larger than the one in the guest bedroom.

So I crawled into bed in the guest bedroom in nothing but my undies and passed out as one does after drinking copious amounts of alcohol.

When I woke up I was horrified to find by brother Keith haphazardly thrown on the bed next to me in his boxer shorts snoring like a bear.

I was in total shock as I realized that I was naked under the covers next to my brother. I slid out of bed as carefully and as quietly as possible. Crawling as low as possible while I got my coat on and collected my clothes. I tiptoed to the door and carefully turned the knob slipping silently into the dark hallway.

I closed the door and turned to run into the bathroom across the hall to get dressed when my father came down the hallway.

“Have you seen Keith?”
