It was ... Thanksgiving 2007, one of the Ayoub Holiday celebrations we were invited to, at their home in Redlands. Everyone was there, Camille, Leila, Tania, Nabil and Nehme.
Those afternoon dinner parties were always exquisite, Leila and Nabil cooked at least 4 courses and the table was filled with uncorked red wine bottles, ready to be poured. These events were all about conversation, family, Lebanese culture, successful 1st and 2nd generation immigrants, educated, hardworking and celebrating life in the USA, contributing to society, a story we were not unfamiliar with.

It was when Camille was still around, and we asked Nabil if it was ok to bring a camera and shoot some portraits. Most likely this was the first time we met Nehme. He was a kind, handsome, witty, educated man, a citizen of the world, one that added value to any social setting, to any conversation.

We continued to see Nehme through the years, locally during the Holidays and also in DC where he lived and worked.

His passing at 52 is a substantial loss not only to the Ayoub family but also to the social circle he built and enjoyed.

We will miss him dearly.
