John was a dear friend and I am crushed by his loss. He had a sharp mind and an even sharper wit. A conversation with John was wide ranging, insightful, irreverent, and always entertaining. He was passionate about Mamma Maria and built it into one of the finest restaurants in New England and one of my favorites in the world. And he loved his family--no conversation ever went by without a proud update about Phoebe and Zoe. For 42 years John has been a crucial part of my life, a friend in the truest sense of the word. The memories are vivid, hilarious and poignant. No matter the mileage that went between, we always picked up where we had left off without a beat. John, you were unique and are irreplaceable.
