On Sunday April 9, 2023, Visalakshi “Jay” Ganesh of Brea, CA, loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt and dear friend left for heavenly abode at the age of 64. She is survived by her daughter Mita Christine, mother Maduram, sister Lakshmi, brothers Sriram and Kumar, nephew Ajeeth, sister-in-law Jaya, brother-in-law Ramesh.

In the family, we called her Chinna. She was a devoted and infinitely selfless mother, daughter, sister and aunt. She was struggling with an autoimmune disease in the last few years. In spite of her illness, she had endless energy to help everyone – her daughter, her siblings, her mother, her cousins, her friends.

We remember her laughing and smiling recalling all the risible events from our formative years in Bhilai and Madras. Chinna was a gifted cook. When visiting her home in Brea, she would go all out to make all kinds of South Indian and North Indian dishes for family and friends.

Chinna was born in June 1958 at the Triplicane Maternity Hospital in Madras, India. She was raised in a loving family with her siblings in Bhilai by her parents Smt. Maduram and late Sri Subrahmanyam. During her formative years in Bhilai, she was formally trained in Bharatnatyam classical dance for several years. She did her dance arangetram in Bhilai. After her schooling in Bhilai, she studied at Meenakshi College, Madras and received her BCom degree in 1979.

After her graduation, she got married to Ganesh, a bank officer based in Madras. Her daughter was born in 1984. She was a devoted mother to Mita.

Her family migrated to the US in the late 80s, specifically to enable Mita receive proper care and possible cochlear implant surgery for hearing impairment. She settled in Atlanta to raise her daughter Mita during the late 80s and 90s. Later she moved to Brea, CA to work at Bank of America, where she worked since the mid-2005. She was a highly recognized team member of mortgage and risk management teams at the bank. She left the bank in 2020 to help take care of her elderly mother and to focus on her own health.

Chinna was a devoted follower of Shirdi Sai Baba. Her devotion gave her a lot of strength during her later years when she valiantly fought her autoimmune condition.

We are forever grateful to Chinna for her love, warmth and selfless support of her family and friends.

Chinna, we miss you! But we know you are in a better place looking over us and cheering us on. When we look at the sky, the brightest star will remind us of you. With love for you forever ♥ ♥ ♥
