Verlie has been one of Jehovah's Witnesses for 50 years. She loved studying the Bible and enjoyed sharing what she learned with others. Verlie grew up as a quiet reserved young lady until she met her happy outgoing husband Orville. She loved his humor and found him refreshing. In fact his marriage proposal was "marry me and let's have a riot!" behind the Dairy Dell, and she fell for it!! They got married, and she lovingly raised her three children. She taught her children many bible truths, and taught by her example how to show self sacrificing love. Verlie was known among her friends in the congregation as an encouraging and kind confidante. She was an excellent listener, and many poured out their heart to her. Although Verlie experienced many health issues for many years, she never pitied herself, and was mostly concerned about helping others. Verlie also enjoyed stepping out of the box with Orville. For example, they moved to Ontario, and they both joined a Punjabi congregation in Toronto. She loved making new friends and experiencing this new culture. She was known as "Ranni" in the congregation, which means Queen. Verlie also enjoyed dancing with Orville many, many polkas. Later Orville and Verlie moved to the Islington congregation. There she once again formed many beautiful friendships and was an encouragement to many there. Verlie had a strong faith in the Bible's hope of the resurrection, and she kept her integrity to Jehovah to the end.
