Thomas Marshall Smith was born December 22, 1946 to Wendell Rowland Smith and Betty Jean Kelly in Seattle, Washington. Thomas was the second of nine children. He married Pamela Joan Scott in June 1972 and had two children, Oluyemisi Smith and Erin Smith. He was briefly remarried during the 1990s. Thomas was a proud veteran after serving four years in the Marines and completing two tours in Vietnam in 1965 and 1966. During his service he received the National Defense Service Medal and Presidential Unit Citation and several Vietnam service and campaign medals. He then worked for the Washington State Department of Corrections for over 25 years before retiring in the late nineties.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and older sister Barbara Fort Jones. Forever loving son, brother, uncle, father and grandfarher, he is survived by his (step) mother Carlotta Smith; first wife Pamela Smith; daughters Oluyemisi and Erin Smith; brothers Charles, Michael, Karl and Gregory Smith; sisters Suzee Sacchini-Bolden, Jane Smith-Bennett, and Judi Smith-Brown; nephews David Sacchini, Tari Jones, Brian Sacchini, and Lamar Smith; nieces Teri Smith, Erika and Jennifer Bennett; grandchildren Oluwadara, Oluwayoyin, and Oluwadamilare Odugbesan; best friends Don and Miriam Ambrose; brother-in-law Daniel Crayne, Kevin Brown and Ray Bolden; sister-in-law Barbara Smith; great nephews Adam Sacchini, Logan Jones and Lamar Smith jr; and great nieces Savannah and Sarah Sacchini, Layawnna, Clarice, Khamaria, Shanyce and Mariara Smith.
