This page is to commemorate the life of Thomas Lawrence Pearson.
Thom passed away unexpectedly on August 15, 2020 due to heart failure. He is survived by his wife, Jana Dean, together for over 23 years.
Thom was the youngest son of Deryl B. Pearson and Rose Pearson. He was born and raised in Garden Grove, CA and attended church at King of Kings Lutheran. He was involved with the youth ministry at Garden Grove Community Church (later known as the Crystal Cathedral).
Thom was a boy scout and had interest in camping and hiking. He was an avid ice skater and played the cello in the Garden Grove High School orchestra.
Thom, along with his brothers, Bob, Jim, and Ernie, worked for his father in the family's cabinet and counter top business. Thom joined the Pearson family when they moved their business from Buena Park to Hesperia, CA and later became part of Pearson Construction where they built many new homes in the high desert area. Thom made a point to learn all the various trades of construction and was very capable in all of them.
Thom married Carolyn Fults on June 28, 1980 and had two children, a daughter, Rosemary, in 1987, and a son, Erik, in 1991. They lived in Apple Valley in 1980 and moved to Anaheim in 1984 and later, moved to Fullerton where Thom became a salesman for the woodworking industry. They divorced in June 1997.
Thom married Jana Dean on March 7, 2009. They shared many mutual interests and enjoyed travel and classic cars. Thom worked for Jana's family company, Community Chevrolet in Burbank, CA. They later moved to Woodland, WA where Thom became an insurance agent for Aflack. In 2018, they moved to their current home in Newport, OR.
Thom loved music and was a fan of Neil Diamond, the Eagles, and ELO just to name a few.
His favorite foods were: blackberries (from his yard), "Hot Dish", Chess Pie, 3-day Cinnamon rolls, and his Mom's famous chocolate chip cookies
His favorite movies were: It's a Wonderful Life and anything with John Wayne in it.
His favorite TV shows were: MASH and Band of Brothers
Thom loved to play games such as UNO, backgammon, Gin Rummy, and darts.
Thom was a good Samaritan while on the road. If there was anyone he came across having car trouble, he was quick to come to their aid.
Thom suffered a back injury which affected his ability to work and he retired early. He kept busy working on lawn mower engines repair and did some odd jobs and woodworking projects in his workshop. Thom did have challenges in his health that contributed to his death, mainly Atrial fibrillation, aka A-Fib.
These are only some of the highlights of Thom's accomplishments in his life.
