Sylvia Thelma Jackson was born to the late Dave and Mildred Jackson in Lake Village, AR on January 30, 1936. She was the eldest of her three siblings.
Sylvia enjoyed golfing, playing basketball and watching football. She enjoyed social events with friends and family as well as discussing politics.
Caring for others in the field of nursing would be her lifelong dream fulfilled. Sylvia graduated from Olive Harvey College with a degree in nursing. She subsequently held various positions in the healthcare field as an RN for over 40 years.
Sylvia was blessed with a loving family. She married her best friend, the late Frank Edward Hamlin in the summer of 1958 in Chicago, IL. They had two beautiful children together, raising them with patience, discipline and humility.
As a family they enjoyed family gatherings where Sylvia made some of the most tastiest dishes and vacationing across the United States each summer.
Sylvia was a hardworking mother who had an enormously generous and kind spirit. She had a laugh that was contagious and the most beautiful smile to go with it. She had a fiery spirit and could hold her own. She was a wonderful and caring grandmother to her three grandchildren and always stood in the gap to offer her love and support at all times. Sylvia also took great pride in her appearance and always was a sharp dresser.
Sylvia is survived by her sister Lamar Triplett, her daughters Fernanda Hamlin and Felicia Edwards, her grandchildren, Haven & Falon Edwards and Isaan Brown.
She is preceded in death by her parents Dave and Mildred Jackson and her brothers Ira Jackson and Henry "Stoney" Jackson.
Sylvia will truly be missed.
