Sylvia Driskill (nee Coomer) passed away on February 21, 2022. She was born in 1940 in Parker County Texas to Leona Coomer (nee Younger) and George Coomer. She grew up in Texas, raised her family in Saint Charles, Missouri, then retired in sunny Florida before moving back to Missouri to be closer to her family. She was a loving mother to her children Darla (Scott) Auer, Dane (Laura Belarbi) Driskill, and Lance (Sharon Folliard) Driskill; adoring grandmother to Sean Auer, Ryan (Shelby) Auer, Cameron Driskill, and Teagan Driskill. She is survived by her dear sister, Delena Doyle of Azle, Texas and her many nieces and nephews. Her dear brother was the late Derald Coomer. She is survived by her former spouse and loving family member Travis Driskill. Sylvia was a graduate of Azle High School, earned a degree from North Texas State University, and was an elementary school teacher at the Hazelwood School District in Missouri from which she retired. She was an avid traveler, having visited dozens of countries. A highlight of her travels was a meeting with the Dalai Lama. She was known for her intellect, was a championship Scrabble® player, and loved playing trivia games with her friends in Florida. She enjoyed pursuits that broaden the mind, such as watching foreign films, Masterpiece Theater, and other PBS programs. Some of her other favorite pastimes were knitting, jigsaw puzzles, racquetball, mahjong, and spending time on the golf course with her dear friends in the Villages. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the PBS Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
