Sue is survived by her husband of 47 years, Thomas A. Wilson. Proof that a Yankee and a Southerner can compromise, the two settled in Burke, VA where they raised their two sons: Thomas W. Wilson (wife – Shelby) and Mark W. Barr (husband – Scott). And while she loved being a wife and mother, Sue’s true calling and passion was to love and spoil her four grandchildren: Jake, Jorja, Taylor and Sebastian. If you knew her even the slightest, then you knew about those four. Whether it was simply running errands or getting prepped for surgery, Sue always kept pictures of her family to show, to share, to hug. Sue is also survived by her brother Dennis Walker (wife – Amy and son – Nathaniel).
Sue’s dedication to children extended beyond her family and devoted 25 years to being the best preschool teacher she could possibly be. With a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, she was always coming up with creative ways to expand her student’s understanding of the world and how to best contribute to it. Sue was also a passionate crafter with an eye for detail. She prided herself on handmade gifts and painstakingly scrapbooking special occasions and trips.
Sue was THAT friend for all…the one to celebrate great news with, the listening ear when you needed advice and the shoulder to cry on when something sad occurred. An incredible person, she made you feel special because to her, you were.
