Sue Goranflo Martin, 90 died September 27, 2021 of natural causes. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Fred Fretz Martin Jr. from Doylestown, Pennsylvania currently living in West Virginia near family. Together they raised three children, Kent Martin (WV), Leigh Waite (PA) and Greg Martin (CA), and had the opportunity to spend time with five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
After graduating from Doylestown High School, Sue completed a BA in Art History from Wilson College. She held a number of jobs in journalism and elementary school teaching, as well as being an antique dealer, bed and breakfast operator, and agent representative for Fred’s sculptures and exhibits.
Sue was an active AAUW participant throughout her lifetime participating in theater and book study groups, as well as involved in Questers groups both in Doylestown and Bonita Springs, Florida. With her husband, family and friends Sue traveled extensively around the United States, Mexico, Caribbean, Europe, Africa and Asia supporting her interests in antiquing, native cultures and art. She was an avid collector of Southwest Native American pottery, baskets and rugs as well as African sculpture. Sue was an active gardener, creating delightful landscapes at the family farm house in Plumsteadville, shaded garden retreats surrounding the one room schoolhouse in Doylestown, and a floral enthusiast from the forests of Maine to the subtropical coasts of Florida where they spent the winters later in life. Her friends and family were always close to her heart.
A private memorial will be held in Doylestown, Pennsylvania at a later date.
