We created a GatheringUs memorial to celebrate the life of Steve McMillon. Collecting your stories and memories here will offer us great comfort. As we plan virtual gatherings, we will post invites. Remember to RSVP to help us plan. Thank you for contributing to this lasting memorial.
Steve was born in Los Angeles California the proud son of Jake and Bertha McMillon and the oldest sibling to brother Ty, Vic, Jake Jr. and sister Qupid. He was a father to James Crocket and Ajoni Jones, and uncle to his nephew Jagger and niece Tyler. He had many younger cousins; his favorite was Helen Jackson. Steve shared a lot of
his early life with his mother, Bertha Motan, Grandmother Mom Mae, and his beloved Cousin Helen Jackson. Their grandmother Mae began a joyful and musical tradition of being surrounded by family and friends.
Steve lived with an amazing family of beautiful Aunts: Nancy, Ethel, LuLu, and Alice. He is survived by his Aunt Louise (Baby) and her daughter, June Bug, whom we love and cherish. Steve loved all his dear cousins: the handsome Eddie Todd Simpson, Lawrence O’Sheigh who always made him laugh. His beloved cousin Cheyenne and the youngest Apryl Jackson.
As an adolescent Steve grew up in Watts, California with his father and an abundance of family. Such as his Paternal Grandmother Bobbie Lee. Cousins: Gloria, Annette, Ida, Main, and the rest of the Hall family.
Steve was fortunate to be a part of a blended family: his stepmother, Jean, stepbrothers, James Earl and Bernard, stepsisters, Cynthia and Rene as well as a host of family and friends. On Parmalee Avenue, Steve began his Coolness trademark. He was called, “The Mack.” He met his first Love, Cassandra. Steve gave her a necklace that read, I Love You for Ever. They were truly best friends.
Cassandra became our sister. Steve’s gift to his mother was her first family of grandchildren whom she spoiled and adored. His son James “Trey-Trey” Crocket and Ajani “John-John” Jones.
Steve loved music and sports, his favorite team was the Oakland Raiders.
Steve loved his only sister and could always get his way with her. She always took care of him. Nephew Jagger loved Uncle Steve and was with him in his last years.
Steve met Rochelle and they became fast friends. They were married and spent many years together, they were inseparable. They were together until he passed away on Sunday January 9th, 2020 around 11:00 am.
Steve loved and believed in God and Jesus; He was baptized by his parents. I am sure there were many family members there to greet him when he was called home to be with the Lord.
HE WILL BE MISSED.
