OBITUARY
As many of you know, among the Bulgarian/Macedonian/etc community, all parents were "Aunt" or "Uncle" regardless of biological relation. It seemed as if every Saturday, there was a celebration somewhere; rotating homes but all the same people! It seemed as if every Saturday, there was a celebration somewhere; rotating homes but all the same people! Aunt Stefie and Uncle Steve always had choir practice at their home as well as Bulgarian School. I remember poor Uncle Steve trying to wrangle everyone's attention to focus on the task at hand! Aunt Stefie always had delicious baked goods or some kind of treat at the end for all the participants. I spent many an afternoon at their home playing Matchbox cars on the porch and drawing chalk cities with Ted. Somehow, I was always the ambulance, but that's another story for another time! Aunt Stefie graciously served us lunch on many a summer day although you could not disturb her during her soap operas!! Her voice was that of an angel. I always told her I wanted her to sing Ave Maria at my wedding. She was there in spirit. Aunt Stefie got my mom to join the Los Feliz Women's Club after I moved away from home and it was a god send for my mom. She loved going and socializing with all "the women" and admired Aunt Stefie for being the president. I will miss Aunt Stefie, her beautiful voice and the holy bread she made every Sunday for church. I hope you are singing, baking and laughing Aunt Stefie. With much love, Liz Santiago
