I don't like green eggs and ham. And I don’t like Seth Bloom
I don’t like that he always had to pee every hour on our road trips.
Not another restroom! No, I don’t like Seth Bloom.
I don’t like that he always had to order dessert- most of the time with extra ice cream, especially if it was coffee ice cream.
It made me fume. No, I don’t like Seth Bloom.
I don’t like that at the end of some of our long runs together, he could turn on a sprint and yell, “C’mon, you can go the distance!” And leave me in the dust.
Zoom, Zoom. No, I don’t like Seth Bloom.
I don’t like his big loud laugh, that darn contagious one that would often have us holding our sides in pain, unable to talk or breath, peeing in our pants..as Benji and Jeff looked on in bewilderment, why, what was so funny?
Benanu Kaboom. No, I don’t like Seth Bloom.
I don't like that he could be delighted by the smallest things like catching a baby 3 inch trout when we went fly fishing, starting a camp fire on the Appalachian trail, running off the trail when we went ATVing - Wahooo! He would scream followed by him giggling to himself like a little kid doing something for the first time.
He was over the moon. Abloom. No, I don’t like Seth Bloom
I don’t like professionally, that he could make you write a check for more then you wanted to or do a mitzvah, like pick up hitch hikers, things you may not have done otherwise.
The best teacher in the world classroom No, I don’t like Seth Bloom.
I don’t like that he spoke incessantly and would not shut up sometimes until his point…and yours…..was understood from every angle, every side, in every way possible….even when you didn’t want to hear it.
He would pause to catch his breath, then resume. No, I don’t like Seth Bloom.
I don’t like that he could worm his way into your heart and make you feel things you didn’t want to, understand situations that you didn’t want to face and love people you were mad at.
He did not presume or assume. No, I don’t like Seth Bloom.
Mostly, I don’t like that he could see the real you no matter what mood you were in, accept you and love you no matter what you did wrong, or did not do good enough, or no matter what you questioned or thought about yourself- he still just loved you unconditionally.
Seth was the light that would always illume No, I don’t like Seth Bloom –
I LOVE Seth Bloom and I will Miss him deeply, and all of these things and more about him.
I do like green eggs and ham

Seth was very generous with his time and advice -- riding his bike to meetings with me at Brew Haha when he wasn't able to drive after his surgery. Several years later as a consultant, he helped us by doing our campaign feasibility study which resulted in him encouraging us to move forward with a capital campaign. When the DCM opened (many years later), Seth was always extremely complimentary of my efforts and gave me complete credit for the opening of the museum even though I repeatedly reminded of the many many other people involved (including him)!!!
Last year when Rabbi Beals approached Marty to help with a campaign to pay off the CBS mortgage, Marty recommended to him that I should be asked instead. I said no -- I was too busy with work and other commitments. But then Seth (and Marla) contacted me and Seth sold me on the reason for the campaign and the almost guaranteed success if we tie it to the 100th anniversary of the synagogue. How could I possibly say no to Seth?? It was my honor to work with him over the past year. His enthusiasm and creativity and energy and positive spirit were absolutely remarkable. When this campaign is completed, all credit goes to Seth for his vision and all of the early groundwork. And of course to Marla who has been such an amazing and hardworking partner. My favorite part of our many Zoom meetings was when Seth would come on with the phone a bit cockeyed so he was at a weird angle and he'd be fixing his hair and remarking on how good it looked that day! less

Although we moved and our families grew up, we always kept in touch. Seth was a friend, a mentor, a leader and a mensch. We will always love him, remember him, and try to lead a life like his. We already miss him.
Seth never missed a party! Even when he wasn't feeling his best, Seth was front and center at the JFS DE 120th Anniversary Celebration. When Seth got tired, the only way to keep him seated during our speeches was to sit on his lap!
Tall boy in the back :)
We will always remember Seth's warm personality! He was happy-go-lucky regardless of what he was dealing with.

A funny memory that you once shared was meeting Rae's parents. You were both up to your typical shenanigans, laughing, gregarious, etc. and then it dawned on you both, that you were the adults. You weren't the kids and probably needed to be more "appropriate" with her parents.
His memory is a blessing. Lots of love from the entire Appelbaum family. less

Since Ivy started working at the JCC in 1998, Seth was always in our lives. Here is Seth lovingly wishing us a mazel tov on Micah's birth in 2002. We will miss him for so many reasons and in so many ways.... but mostly as a dear friend.
