We all experienced the delight of knowing and loving Sean, and Conor and Caeligh really only had him as their father for a little over a decade. Please help the memory of Sean Byrt live on by contributing a story, memory, list of characteristics or a photo to this memorial. May we all have it to remember Sean by and may Conor and Caeligh have a little more of their father to hang onto in its completion. Thank you so much for contributing!

We had a blast dancing at Tulagi's, The Boulder Theatre, bouncing around at Juanita's and The West End Tavern. I remember Sean and B-man waited for me at Long's Peak and I over slept, delaying their hike up the 14'er (sorry again, guys). I drove up Sunshine Canyon with Sean to watch the sun go down and for him to take pictures (great photographer, he was). He had such passion for all things nature and photographing it all. Chris remembers Sean being the greatest host, always with a ready smile and lively conversation. Sean and Sully saved our hides at our outdoor wedding when they orchestrated renting outdoor propane heaters for what was a cold reception. So thankful for them. Most of all, we both remember how proud Sean was of his children. It will be his birthday next week so I have a picture here of his and Barb McCarthy's birthday celebration from 2000 (thanks, Barb). RIP friend. less

Sean walked into the house on Mapleton the day we arrived and he was so excited for the Boston people that had moved to town. His laugh and contagious smile made me know I had found a sweet soul and a new friend. He could not wait to show me all that Boulder had to offer and the beauty of the place he called home. I feel lucky to have known him and grateful to know his legacy will live in his children. xx less

We often had impromptu porch parties and BBQs and people would show up with something to share. A favorite memory I have of Sean was a party at the Goldsteins' home, celebrating some fun event and there was much eating, drinking and dancing! Sean pretended he had a fishing rod and cast a line at Julie. She got "hooked" and he then reeled her in for a hug, both of them laughing. It was adorable. less

What always stood out was that he cared as sincerely and fully as he laughed. He cared deeply about his people and tribe on a truly heartfelt level, and he also truly cared about the whole wide world, which he always had undying fascination for. Sean was an incredibly colorful and intriguing character. He posessed many gifts but chief among them was the eye of a gifted artist, the mind of a great innovator, the hands of a wonderful creator, and the heart of a loving soul. less

I will keep close to my heart memories such as; driving through a blizzard across I80 to get to a friend's wedding in Utah. Julie and Sean rode in the front seats talking away, entertaining us, playing good music, while Tom and I white knuckled it in the back seat just waiting for an accident. Sean never batted an eye to the danger of the situation and kept the road trip light and adventurous! I will remember attending Sean's photo show opening in Boulder. It was the first time I had the pleasure of seeing nature through Sean's lens and realizing the talent and sensitivity he possessed. I will remember bbq'ing at Sean and Julie's beautiful home in Boulder for a mini Telluride reunion. Again, I had the opportunity to see Sean's talent in the beautiful design and craftsmanship of this house he built - but even more wonderful was seeing Sean with his children that night. Conor and Caeligh were just babies and these beautiful little people made Sean glow with so much pride and love, it was one of those moments that makes you so appreciative to see your friend so happy in life. Rest in peace Sean. 💛 less

I remember seeing him in his cool FourRunner on campus and wondering who this kid was....He always had a boundless work ethic, child-like enthusiasm & an unwavering passion for whatever he turned his attention to....whether that was creating the coolest dorm room at Lamba Chi, babying his amazing parade of cars he bought himself or working on creating the perfect stonewall, he really had an incurable zeal. Through the years in Amherst, Martha's Vineyard, out to Telluride & up to Boulder, Sean was so big a part of so many of our lives.. He was always magnanimous when he saw you and generous of spirit...he loved to laugh and was a true Boston / Umass sports fanatic and would be heard a block away screaming " Umass baby" on a game day...I remember he developed a true passion for photography during his time in Telluride that revealed the eye & spirit of a real artist that always impressed me....more than anything he loved Julie & his kids....they were his greatest pride & joy. He talked about each of you all the time in later years during the few times we saw each other....He had the curse of too big a heart, too stubborn a head and an unquenchable thirst.....but you never doubted the friendship & loyalty to those he cared for...may our good friend live on in each of us and may his passion for life never leave us. less

Sean talked me into moving to Telluride. I wish I was there now! Sean also got me out of more than one jam, that I will blame on snow and mud, and not on my poor choices, lol!
