Greg, Ashley and I would like to thank everyone that joined us for Ryan's Celebration of Life. We apologize for it running longer than planned, but we discovered it is hard to fit a person's life in an hour and a half. We cherish the memories that were shared and hope that family and friends will continue to share on this page in the area of memories and condolences, at the very least sign your name so we know you visited the page or watched the recording.
GatheringUs will be posting the recorded Celebration of Life on Monday for those that couldn't get signed in or were not able to attend. I myself ended up recording and adding my part to it, as the evening of the event I was too emotional to be able to speak the words I wanted to say.
We thank everyone for the prayers, thoughts and the love you have shown us during this time. We look forward to seeing you all in person in the near future.
Celebration of Life held December 17. 2020
Hello family and friends. We are honored that you are planning on attending Ryan’s virtual Celebration of Life on Thursday, December 17th at 6:30 – 8:00 pm. If for some reason you cannot attend, the recorded event will be posted on this page for 30 days. GatheringUs also keeps this Memorial page running indefinitely, allowing family and friends to continue to share stories, memories and pictures after the event. We will truly value hearing from each of you as we are unable to meet in person due to COVID.
We will continue to use this platform to announce the Memorial hockey game between Canada and the USA, which we are planning at a later date.
Instructions for November 17th:
If you have a hockey jersey, feel free to wear it. ***BRING A CAN OF WHIPPED CREAM TO TAKE PART IN A SPECIAL MEMORY WITH GEORGIA***

One last note – although our hearts are still hurting and grief can be intense at times, we are comforted by the promises of God knowing Ryan is with Jesus. We hope you will also find some comfort in this.
Obituary from February 2020
With an incredible amount of sadness, Greg, Brenda and Ashley Sidun announce the passing of our beloved Ryan. Ryan was loved by so many, but he will be especially missed by his nephew, Mikhail Sidun and his niece, Georgia Sidun. He will also be missed by his grandparents, George Sr. and Anna Sidun and Ronald and Jeanne Brown, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. We are happy that Ryan was received in heaven by his grandparents, Jim and Carol Javon.
Ryan graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science in Aviation. While attending Liberty, he also played five years on the Liberty Flames hockey team, a team that went to Nationals every year while he was playing. Ryan had an incredible 20-year hockey career and often found himself playing a big part in many important games. Ryan is also noted in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, Canada, as being a player for the first Northern Ontario team (and definite underdog) to win the Midget National TELUS Cup.
Besides hockey, Ryan was passionate about aviation. Ryan earned his wings privately before going on to study at the University level. Ryan also loved to fish and spend time with family and friends. He will be dearly missed by countless numbers of people who he touched with just his smile and quiet, but comforting presence.
Ryan was an incredibly generous soul and volunteered many hours serving dinners at the Elgin Street Mission in Sudbury, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, or if you would like to donate directly, he would have liked donations payable to The Elgin Street Mission, 344 Elgin St., Sudbury, ON P3E 3N9 Canada (phone #: 705-673-2163) or online at http://themission.ca/donate.
Please be sure to mark your donation with "In Memory of Ryan Sidun" so we may thank you properly.
