Robert Vincent Suarez Sr. died peacefully in Ocala, Florida on April 25, 2019 at the age of 88.
Robert, the youngest of seven brothers and two sisters, was born on September 13, 1930 to Vincent and Lola Suarez in Philadelphia, the city he called home for the next 73 years until moving to Ocala, Florida in 2004. He joined the Army at age 21 in 1951. Robert was honorably discharged. While later working at Philco in Philadelphia, he met Ursula Hulsen. They married in 1954 and had two children, Linda Siwek (Edmund) and Robert Jr. Robert Sr. worked for many years in University City then later opened his own typewriter sales and repair business.
Robert was a hardworking, deeply caring, and giving man. He put his family above all else. A traveler and photographer, he had a special affinity for his wife’s homeland of Germany, taking trips with his family there to visit relatives whom he maintained relationships with until his death. A constant jokester, Robert was always quick with a laugh and smile, a trait that has become a hallmark of the Suarez lineage.
Robert is survived by his wife Ursula, of 65 years; his son Robert Suarez Jr. of Philadelphia; his daughter and son-in-law Linda and Edmund Siwek of Big Pine Key, FL; his grandchildren: Krystal Threlkeld (Darren), Amanda Suarez, Edmund Siwek Jr. and Erica Suarez; and his great-grandchildren, Lilly and Daisy Threlkeld. He is preceded in death by his brothers Vincent, Peter, Manual, Ralph, Joseph, George, and sisters Elizabeth and Mary.
A funeral mass is scheduled for May 10, 2019 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala, FL. with interment at National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
