Those of us that knew him, knew him as kind, compassionate and nice to everyone he met. He had an easygoing and gentle nature that anyone could get along with. He was generous and was there for you if you ever needed him. Above all was his love for animals.
Here however are some things you may not of known about him. He loved music. Some of his favorites were; The Beatles, Rush, The Dukes of Straosphere, Throwing Muses, New Pornographers, Skyhooks and so many more. As you can see however, he was not limited to popular music. He would dig deep for new music no matter how obscure. He loved football and was an avid Seattle Seahawks fan. He liked to play XBox with his cousins and his friends. Especially the EA Sports Hockey series which he played from the very first on his Sega Genesis. He was funny and his sense of humor was askewed enough to make him even funnier. He was earth and eco friendly. He would garden, compost and recycle. He liked to cook and sometimes healthy. When his garden would come in, he would juice his own produce. Not only did he love animals, he rescued them literally. I'm not sure that we could count how many animals he had over his lifetime but there is no doubt that he loved every single one of them. If there was ever a cause that he would get behind more than any other, it would be animal care and rescue. This is why we have added a way to donate to the Kitsap Humane Society. If, like us you would like to do something in his honor but are at a loss, we would ask that you give generously to this great cause in his name.
Please use this site to sing his praises in the comment section and thank you for joining us here.

I wanted to let you all know that I drove to the Kitsap Humane Society a couple of weeks ago to drop off some checks and to confirm that they had received the money from Gatheringus.com which they had. We raised close to $4000 and counting according to them. They were very grateful as they are breaking ground for a veterinary hospital next door. They will be naming one of their cat holding places after him thanks to everyone that donated and we would just like to say thank you to everyone that loved Rick whether you were able to give or not. We really miss him!!! less

I told her you can ask Rick to send you a sign.. she said it's not the same "I want the real Rick back!" I told her I did too.. Rick had given her a stuffed penguin for Christmas one year and she named it Rick and falls asleep hugging it everynight.. As I was telling her to ask him to send a sign the first thing that popped into my head was a bird for some reason. In my head popped up the memory of when we had a baby seagull in our courtyard for a few days just living off of handouts and Rick couldn't resist feeding it and bringing some stuff specifically for the bird from home. Anyways later that day at work at First Hill Plaza I was pressure washing and a baby seagull walked right up to me where I could pet him and started drinking the water from the pressure washer not bothered by the noise and the fact that it was running. He stayed awhile so I just let him drink. In my head I immediately thought of Rick and was like ok if this same bird comes back again then it's definitely a sign from Rick. After an hour or two the same bird came back and once again hung out for awhile! We miss you so much Rick! ❤️💔😭

Rick was our first introduction to the First Hill Plaza community. It was his graciousness, helpfulness, and humor that made the decision to live at FHP an easy one. His loss is a shock to us all. He will be missed by everyone.

Our hearts were sadden to here the news of Rick's passing. He was such and original, compassionate guy that lived life on his terms. He was so good to Korren and Mikey creating the best Easter event ever at his house once. We took many trips together including Las Vegas, Camping, and Seaside. His never ending passion for fantasy football brought him many successful seasons in our leagues. We went through some photos to share with your family. Love Luke, Janell, Mikey, Korren and The Cain Family. less
So shocked and saddened to hear the news about Rick. He was always so kind, friendly, and cheerful. Not only me, a resident of FHP, but my friends who met Rick when they visited my home were sad to hear of his death. My condolences.

He was a wonderful kind, honest, down to earth person, and a great coworker. I could not believe it really happened when I answered the phone that Thursday afternoon, and was still until last minute hoping it was a mistake and Rick would walk in any minute and sit at the lobby bench and we would talk while I finish up work tasks, before he starts his shift.
He was part of our FHP family, one of us, our person. I am saddened by his tragic passing and will miss our conversations, his pet pictures and stories. less

We often spoke about Seattle indie rock bands and it was obvious how much Rick loved music and was so open to all kinds of stuff. If we weren't discussing bands it was talking about his animals or ours. Rick did not hide his big heart and generous nature and we feel his absence in a huge way and will never forget your great spirit. less

To the Giberson family - our deepest condolences on Rick's death. We live at First Hill Plaza, where Rick was a fixture, always cheerful, kind, and willing to lend a helping hand. There's a hole in our community without Rick, but his memory will last a lifetime.
We were so saddened to hear of Rick's passing. His kindness shined through with every interaction, and he will be missed by so many. May his memory be a blessing.
