Dr. Richard Yoh, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many, passed away on June 13, 2022.  Dr. Yoh was born in 1941 in Shanghai, China and grew up in Taipei, Taiwan.  He came to the United States in 1965 to pursue advanced studies and earned a Ph.D. degree in Mathematics from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

He moved to Gainesville, Florida, in 1972 to begin teaching at the University of Florida, and his career spanned a variety of interests. He was an eclectic entrepreneur, having opened the city’s first and what turned out to be a popular imported auto parts store. It was appropriately named, Popular Imported Auto Parts.  Later, he expanded the business to become Imported Auto Center, providing car repair services. 

Along the way, he also programmed computers for IBM business applications, owned and operated a John Deere tractor dealership in Newberry, Florida, operated a 65-acre hay farm, entered car races with a pink Porsche 914, and converted his auto center to a body repair shop.  When he finally decided to retire and relax, he became a restaurateur, converting the parts/auto body warehouse into a restaurant and lounge. It was appropriately named the Warehouse Restaurant and Lounge.

He is survived by his wife Jau Yoh, daughter Allison Yoh (Davis Park), son Eric Yoh (Hongyan Wang), and grandson Devin Yoh Park. 

Our memories of Richard will continue to live on through his love of family, friends, cars, and food (in that order).
