Richard Rosas, “Rick,” of Glendale, California passed away on March 21, 2022 due to pulmonary fibrosis. He was born on August 20, 1942 in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico to Jose Rosas and Ana Maria Flores. His family relocated to California when he was six and eventually settled in Glendale, California.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Velvet and his grandson Robbie. He is survived by his son, Rick and his wife, Karen; his daughter Dawn and her husband, Chuck; His daughter Velvet’s husband, James; his grandchildren, Missy, Shelly, Joey, Brandan, Desi, Sheree, Tristan, Avory, Lonnie and Allette; his great grandchildren, Michael, Brooklynne, Ashlynn, Hunter, Jesse, Kaylee, Lily, Teresa, Aubrey, Aiden, and Amelia; his siblings, Carmen, Lupe, Rosemary and Angel, and their families; and his ex-partner and mother of his children, Diana.
Rick was known by many as a friendly, helpful and caring person. He was very social and liked meeting new people. One of five siblings, he cared very much for his sisters and brother and spent a big part of his life being near them and helping them as well as he could.
Possessed of an adventurous spirit and wanting to see more of the world when he was young, Rick joined the Navy when he was 18. He served for four years aboard the USS Ranger and the USS Kitty Hawk aircraft carriers where he worked in damage control. After the military, most of his career was spent working in the drapery and blinds business. He was an artist when it came to window coverings and he took pride in his work. He installed beautiful drapery treatments in many businesses and homes around Southern California.
He raised three children with Diana French, who he knew when he was a teenager and later started a relationship with after returning home from the Navy. He loved his family and was a fun and loving father, a great teacher and roll model. Later when his children had kids of their own, he became a very proud grandpa and great grandpa. Christmas was his favorite holiday because he got to buy lots of gifts for the kids.
Rick was very generous and had a strong desire to help others. He went out of his way to lend a hand and was the type of person who would pull over if he thought someone needed help. He was always very interested in learning new things and in understanding how things worked. He was a jack of all trades and if something was broke, he could fix it. He loved working on his cars and vans and read lots of books to learn new skills.
His thirst for knowledge led him to start reading books about the mind and spirit, and he became very interested in his own spirituality and self-improvement. He was very involved in his church and completed many courses and actions to increase his awareness and abilities. In the 1980s, he achieved a goal shared by many in his religion and attained the state of Clear.
Rick was a gentle, caring soul who loved life and the people he got to share it with. He he will be greatly missed by his family and friends and the many people whose lives he touched.
There will be a memorial service for Rick on April 24th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Japanese Garden in Brand Park, Glendale, California.
