Richard J Lewis, Sr, 80 of Fairfax, VA, passed away in The Virginian Nursing Home on 4 February 2021. Richard was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on 14 June 1940 to Elsie and Clarence Lewis. He got his education from life experiences.
Richard married Sidney, and he had four stepchildren Costanza, Andrea, Anthony, and Andrew (Sandra) Rutland. Richard was previously married to Gilda Holt Lewis and together they had 3 children, Gissele (Charles) Adams, Richard Jr.(Rosemary) Lewis, and Ginean (Mark) McIntosh. Richard had 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He had retired, but was a small business owner of Clean-All Steam Cleaning for over 30 years. He often employed family and friends who needed a side job. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing, cracking a corny joke, and participating in sports such as golfing, bowling and his first love, Track and Field. He participated in the Senior Olympics/Masters Track and Field, and was always ready to run in a parents or coaches AAU event. He coached the Southern California Cheetahs for over 30 years. He loved coaching his Cheetahs and was a mentor and father figure to many. He was known as "Papa Cheetah". Richard was also a proud member of the Pomona Rotary Club, USATF/AAU, Chamber of Commerce, and Abundant Life Christian Fellowship (Usher). Richard is survived by his Sister Verline, and 2 brothers Terry and Henry. He was predeceased by his parents Clarence Sr, and Elsie, 6 brothers, Clarence Jr, Edmond, Melvin, Andrew and Leon and Brancley 3 sisters, Elsie, Yvonne, Brenda, and 1 grandchild Tiffani Rutland.
