My family and I wish to express our gratitude for the emails, texts, calls, flowers and virtual hugs that we have been receiving. Not to be cliche, but losing a family member isn't easy. However, to lose a parent is even more devastating and heart wrenching. Though the inevitable had been visible for some time, we continued to live in hope for the best. Our father's death has left us extremely melancholy. We will sure miss a parent who has always been there when needed; and one who possessed a typical example of strength and wisdom. He was our Super Hero! As we watched our rock crumbling over the past months and has now disintegrated is immensely difficult. Cordwell Victor Randall Peters was not only a husband, father and friend but he was a community man, a man for the people, a man for the world. He possessed unspeakable humanitarian qualities. Very altruistic! He had the biggest sense of humor but his calling to serve took precedence. He took that seriously. It would take a few more pages to compile all the details together because as a community leader then a priest, he lived a full life serving ALL people. This merited him the esteemed honor of becoming a part of the Queen's task force as a Member of the British Empire (MBE) http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/in_depth/uk/2000/birthday_honours_2000/793832.stm For the past eight years, he had been suffering from Dementia which commenced the "Long Goodbye." Notwithstanding, towards the end he possessed lucid moments and would occasionally say something funny, recognize a family member and practice good manners with a "Yes, Thank you", or a "Yes, Please". There is a small part of me that believes he intentionally chose this time to travel with the souls who are so quickly departing. On Monday March 30th at about 8:00 am he was ready to walk with them through the next phase of life. Sadly the dark side of this for me, is not being able to travel to first be with my mother and to express my final gratitude to my Dad (not trying to cry so moving on). In response to everyone's overwhelming desire to help, we thank you. On this page, there is a section for donations which will assist with expenses but we also and ask that you plant a tree in his honor and to honor all who have passed. Mr. Peters loved the earth and was one of the best gardeners. His array plants and flowers always drew a crowd. It was not uncommon to see tourists taking pictures in his yard. We grieve with all who have lost loved ones and pray for everyone's ability to remain safe and strong. These are beyond trying times! In Dad's words "Bless you you my brother/sister!" We've also been asked for our addresses.
