It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Ralph Edward Kikendall III of Liberty Lake, Washington, who departed this life on January 14, 2020, at the age of 72 years.  He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Kikendall; his daughter, Nancy Kikendall; his son, Douglas Kikendall; his daughter-in-law, Sarah Silbovitz; his poodle, Taffy; and his Grandpuppy, Mookie.  

Ralph was predeceased by his father, Ralph E. Kikendall, Jr.; his mother, Olivia L. Kikendall; and his sister, Candace E. Pauchnick.

Ralph was born on July 23, 1947, in Ithaca, New York.  The family moved to San Gabriel, California where Ralph became highly involved with the Boy Scouts, which led him to attain the highest honor of Eagle Scout.  In the 1970’s Ralph served in the Army National Guard and was promoted to 1st Lieutenant.  He received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a focus in Accounting from the University of Southern California.  He met his wife, Shirley in 1968, and together they were happily married for 45 years.  Ralph started his career as an Insurance Underwriter in California, which brought him and his wife to Utah, where they started their family.  His employer, Safeco Insurance transferred the family to Spokane, WA, where he retired after working in the field for 26 years.  Ralph enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, puttering around in his manicured yard; researching odds and ends on the computer; sitting in his easy chair with his poodle while watching Judge Judy; and making memories while vacationing.  Ralph especially enjoyed family cruises and other vacations.

Ralph will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving father and husband, a jokester, a humorist, and an all-around good guy.

A Celebration of his life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2020, at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home, 1315 N. Pines Road in Spokane Valley, WA. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:00 - 10:45 a.m. The Service will be followed by a gathering at the Kikendall's home, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
