The Portland Street Art Alliance collaborated with Pedalpalooza BIKE SUMMER to create a mural to honor our friend, Rabbitt Fox.
We'll bike to the unveiling of the huge, beautiful mural that Hayden (@chairboy_) meticulously hand painted at NE Broadway and 24th.
Those unable to bike with us can meet at the mural at 6:15pm and cheers the riders as we roll in.
This mural was an incredible example of communities coming together. Even the neighboring businesses are showing their love with donations and support.
Here are some of the ways locally owned shops are stepping up this day:
* Steeplejack Brewing Company - offering 50% off beers to those coming to view the mural on the 30th and setting up a water station at the mural
* Spielman Bagels - free bagels and smear, plus a $25 gift card
* Shop Merci Milo - 20% off all items in the store on the 30th
* The Realm Refillery - 10% off the day of and day after
* Spin Laundry Lounge - opening their doors to those who need to sit on a couch and enjoy some air conditioning for a bit, giving vouchers for free laundry, and donating 10% of their profits on August 30th to Rose Haven
We created this online memorial to celebrate the life of Rabbitt. Collecting your stories and memories here will help us all process. Share as many photos as you can. Click on the heart to let us know you were here and to receive email updates. Thank you for contributing to this lasting memorial.
Thank you to those who donated to Rabbitt's mural fund. The mural is now complete and it's BEAUTIFUL. We'll be leading a ride to the mural (which is at NE 24th and Broadway) today. I knew him best from zoobomb, the clown house, MMR, chariot wars, and other rides, but we also did some longer rides as well, including a 100 mile ride to the beach on tallbikes. I really wanted to hop a train with him someday. less

He ended up being the rock that made that job happen, working late nights and crashing on my couch to get up early the next day and start again. He was insanely talented and dedicated. We ebbed and flowed through the years as acquaintances, but I am grateful to have known and gotten to enjoy company with such a legend. RIP Dear Rabbit. less
Rabbitt taught me a lot about being gentle, being inspired by nature, and being fun and wild in a way that put connections with people first. He was trustworthy and a real friend to me and my kids.

The last picture is a bonsai tree I was saving for him. We talked about working on it together. I wish I hadn’t waited to bring it to him. less

I first met him when I reached out to see if he'd be interested in painting a bunch of doors for a renovation project I've been working on. I had seen some of his art & thought it was so cool. He was even cooler. One of the sweetest, most genuine people I've ever met. Any time I spent with him I was reminded at how cool it is to have a big heart, & to be sensitive, & to care about people. I wish we had more time with you here, but I feel so blessed to forever have a part of you on these beautiful doors you gave us. Thank you - I'll love you forever brother. less

Thank you for sharing photos of the collection and thank you for supporting him and his art. Working on these doors gave him much joy. I used to get daily (sometimes hourly!!) photos of his progress on them.

Then I started seeing him around town and at various bike events. Then we realized we both lived on the Westside and would ride bikes together and talk about life. He was always helpful and wanting to do thing for others. Don’t worry, bud, I’ll continue to support the PDX bike scene anyway I can and with you in mind. I’m still going to get 3.1 up and in your memory. Love you, my friend. Rest in power, Rabbitt. less

He was always friendly and made me feel welcome at events where I felt like an outsider/didn't really know anyone. After moving back to my hometown, I would run into him while visiting Portland, he always would sit and bullshit for a bit with me. He genuinely cares/was interested in what was going on.
I will miss him. less
