Ordinarily your death ought not to have come as a surprise and even shocking since that is the nature of mortal like we are but for the fact that we were all together hale and hearty in Speke Commonwealth Resort, Munyonyo, Uganda for the Rotary Institute. You were full of life without us remembering that you were a mortal like us that may pack up and go without notice or else how does one explain your sudden death for whatever excuse to justify why you died.
When one of those doing good and action people left so suddenly, the only tribute the rest can give and honour the departed with is to ensure that what he believed and died in its course is not allowed to surfer or even stop, so Rotary work will continue like onward soldiers…
PDG Olowu, you believed in doing good and you were really an action man hence your leadership role in Rotary world, you were a very active and always on the move, if not, why immediately on return from Uganda without looking back the next news from your end was death in far away Cairo Egypt where you went to address Rotarians few days after our return from Uganda hence the title of this tribute to you, PDG OLOWU – THE UNTIRING ACTION MAN.
What can we say than to thank the Creator for given us the opportunity of meeting and knowing you.
I pray to God the Almighty to give your wife - Rotarian Past President Margaret Olowu, your children, indeed your Rotary family and friends across the globe that rare grace to accept and move on in life with no or little stress that normally follows the death of a loved one. Afterall, as an author said, “there is nothing in death per se but agony of separation”. May the good Lord ease the agony of separation for the family. Aamiin.
I say good bye to a senior friend.
Adieu PDG OLUGBEMIGA OLUTAYO OLOWU and good night.

REGIONAL ROTARY FOUNDATION COORDINATOR ZONE 22 - by PDG Kamoru Omotosho
The sad news of PDG Olowu passing on on Saturday 19th December 2020 spread like wide fire all over the world. As apparently unbeleivable as it was then, it was obvious to us that Rotary has lost a gem.
Olugbemiga joined Rotary very early as a young man. However what made him to turn out as an embodiment of what a Rotarian should be has nothing to do with the number of years but his passion and consistent self development. This made him well grounded in various aspects of Rotary and beyond.
He is knowldgeable and very confident. He was never afraid to have a different opinion especially in Rotary matters. He was however generous with his knowledge, always willing to share and forever available.
He practised what he preached . This is especially so in Rotary Membership Development . He was one of the few Rotary Leaders who brought their entire family into Rotary.
Outside Rotary, Olugbemiga is equally well developed spiritually and also an accomplished poet with volumes of unpublished poems.
In the spirit of Rotary he made friends easily and it is very true when he said he had Rotary friends in every corner of the world.
Olugbemiga left a huge vacuum with his passing and he will be sorely missed.
May the Almighty God give his lovely family and the entire Rotary world the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.

O death, where, where is thy sting
O grave, where, where is thy victory
O death, where, is thy sting
O grave, where, is thy victory…
When I received the call from the hospital bed telling me my Dad is no more I closed my eyes saying is a dream until I could stand on my feet seeing all the messages and I said it is true. I have lost someone who has been a Father to me for 15 years.
I remembered when you were in my club and I greeted you first hubby looked and said you greeted your father before me, you smiled and said father comes first and we all laughed about it.
When you saw me at my first DTTS, you said to me I am happy and proud of you. You were always available for me to learn more. I will surely missed you Dad.
Dad you are in my heart, and you are here in spirit even as I’m typing now.. I’ll always remember that special smile, that caring heart, that warm embrace you always gave me, our dancing steps at conference parties.
Rest in peace till we meet to part no more.
Although No Words Can Really Help To Ease The Loss We Bear. My DG, PAG Ben our father is gone!😭😭😭

His commitment to Rotary unquestionable. No wonder disembarked from the vessel of this sinful world by answering the supreme call while on Rotary assignment.
I was privileged to watch him at close quarters during my call of duty as District Secretary. He always had words of encouragement for me. He once said: "OJ continue to give account of yourself. Your service is noticed. It shall be adequately recompensed," he said.
I had sought his counsel on an issue shortly after his return from Uganda. Little did I know that it would be our last "sparring," like we often say, together. He was at his best when he explained the issue to me quoting copiously from new and extant rules of Rotary International.
He was a mentor to many. He was to me especially whenever we session together on poetry.
PDG Olugbemiga Olowu will be sorely missed by PP Margaret, their children and the Rotary world. May his soul be received into eternity by His maker.

Words fail me to say the least, I never imagine for once, a time like this will come too soon, you were the exact definition of a True Leader and a mentor anyone can ever wish for. My heart is broken as I pen down my first ever tribute in my over three decades of existence.
You were my First Class District Governor, while I served my Rotaract club as president the year Rotary asked us to Engage Rotary and Change Lives, which you did with your calm and articulated leadership styles, you were a district governor to all and hence I have always called you “My Own DG”.
You saw the leadership trait in me and advise me not to stay too long in Rotaract if I have the means to be in rotary, taking up your advice made me join Rotary almost immediately.
You didn’t stop there, as you helped nurture my leadership capabilities seeing that I wasn’t just a club Rotarian as you challenged me by having me serve in some committee at the district level, so others can see how vibrant and resourceful I am which has seen me as a constant member of the Rotary Family Health Days Committee since 2015 till date that made me refer to you, DG Bola Oyebade, PAG Ben Okhumale, AG Sola Benson, PP Yinka Adeogun and myself as a family. I never thanked you enough for this and many more advice you gave me for no penny.
The news of your demise came as a shocker to me when I heard it that Saturday evening of the 19th of December, I couldn’t believe me nor did I stop crying but at the long run, I got solace haven heard that you died doing what you know how to do best, Rotary Duty “Service to Humanity”, also my comfort came from the fact that I knew somewhere in me, that you are resting in the lord for all your service to mankind has surely paid off.
I can’t question God for whom am I to ask Him why He did what He did, He sure knows best, all I can do is pray that God in His infinite mercies, grant you eternal rest, be with your darling wife, immediate and extended family members, all Rotarians, Rotaractors, Family of Rotary of District 9110, entire Rotary Nigeria and Rotary International the fortitude to bear this great lost.
Igi nla wo, E ni re lo, the vacuum you left behind the hearts of so many of us can and will never be forgotten anytime soon, we will surely miss you PDG Olugbemiga Olutayo Olowu, Sun Re o Omo Olowu.

Writing a tribute for our dearly beloved and revered Past District Governor Olugbemiga OLOWU - a father, an uncle, a mentor and a motivator, is a difficult task, but then it has happened and we must continue to live with it as long as we remain on this side of the divide.
Our beloved sojourn on earth ended suddenly on Saturday, December 19, 2020 in far away Egypt, while on Rotary assignment- his passion.
While on this side of the divide, he gave his all to the cause he believed in.
He used the resources that God has endowed him with, skills and talents to better the lot of the needy in his immediate community and communities around the world.
It is to his eternal credit that the yearly Rotary Family Health Days program that he initiated has now become a major program of our Rotary District 9110 Nigeria, with the support of various partners and over 18 Rotary International Districts across the world.
The Rotary Family Health Days (RFHD) is the flagship program of the Rotarians for Family Health and AIDS Prevention (RFHA).
By deploying his skills and expertise on Rotary foundation programs, this laudable project had since 2013 been consecutively funded by Foundation global grants, with well over 140,000 people from about 120 testing and screening sites being impacted on a yearly basis.
Indeed, Serving Humanity must have been in his DNA!
He was a friend of all, irrespective of age, and across all tribes. He was indeed, a great man.
As shocking as his death has turned out to be, the reality is that ready or not, someday it will all come to an end.
In the words of Michael Josephson, “What will matter then, is not how many people you knew, but how many will feel a lasting loss when you are gone. What will matter is not your memories but the memories that live in those who loved you. What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what. Living a life that matters does not happen by accident. It's not a matter of circumstance but choice”.
Our dear PDG Olugbemiga has done his part, those of us still alive must choose to live a life that matters.
To the wife, our dear Aunty Margaret Olaore and the children, we want to leave you with the words of Psalm 34:4 which says “I sought the Lord and He heard me and delivered me from all my fears”. The Lord is your strength. He is waiting anxiously to be gracious onto you. Seek Him in all circumstances, and He shall surely be there for you. May God bless and sustain you always. Amen.
To the Rotary family worldwide, may God’s mercies abide with us all.
A great mind has gone. A candle in the wind! Of a truth, it is one step between life and death!!

Past District Governor Olugbemiga Olutayo Olowu (Triple O) is a Service Legend, a role model, a mentor and a true friend of the disadvantaged. An epitome of dignity and sweet humility, he was victoroius in battle fighting the cause in which he firmly believed, that the only life worth living is one devoted to the cause of service and love.
Triple O reminds us that life does not begin with birth nor does it end in death. He reminds us that we choose our path and that our deeds live after us. Painful as the separation is, we are grateful for the gift of him to us as a shining light and a guiding voice, as we submit unconditionally to Divine Will.
God grant him bliss in heaven and comfort his family!

Loosing a loved one is very painful to bear especially the loss of a man who was remarkable in so many ways. Gbemiga lived his life to the fullest, touching so many people with his smile, thoughts, words and deeds. He treated everyone as a brother and or sister worthy of his love and affection. Very warm in his nature, he had no dull moment and was a comfort to others sometimes forgetting himself.
His achievements, commitment, adventure, fulfillment in marriage and family life are exemplary and worthy of emulation.
Gbemiga , you have served humanity without counting the cost or return & indeed you transited while in active service in far away Egypt. You have taken all your roles in Rotary at the club, District, & Regional levels to heart and strove to honor same to the admiration of all, including our revered organization, The Rotary International. You were daring, defiant and unwilling to settle for less in the journey of life and living.
The friendship and brotherhood that you brought into the lives of your friends, sisters, brothers and indeed all that were within the circle of your influence will surely be missed.
Leading by example, you mentored your fellow Rotarians & Rotaractors, nephews, nieces, and your children in a way that any one of them can say with pride that you were an inspiration in their lives.
You left too early but your legacy lives on. May your journey be profoundly peaceful & joyful . 🙏🏿
