Pat was born on April 19, 1927, in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was the fourth child of Ursin and Ruth Goodman, with Katharyn, John, Marcia, and Floyd as siblings. When she was one year old, her family moved to a farm in Halls Corners, Michigan, and then later to Morenci. Pat graduated from Michigan State College as a registered nurse with a bachelor's degree in home economics. After college, she married Raymond Eugene Mohlie and worked as a social worker, a registered nurse, and an instructor for expectant parents.
Her husband Gene worked for General Foods in Battle Creek, Michigan. They had three children, Steven Raymond, Marcia Kay, and Ted Richard. Pat was a loving wife and mother who centered her life around her family. Gene's job led them to make several moves and brought travel all over the world. They finally settled in Honolulu, Hawaii. Pat’s abiding faith, tennis, bridge, and the P.E.O. sisterhood were constants throughout her life. The family recalls fondly her gracious hospitality, her stories of childhood farm life, and her gratitude for simple pleasures such as a cup of coffee in the morning sunshine.
Gene passed away in 1994, and in 1998, Pat married retired Major General Albert Ronald Escola from Fresno, California. For the next 22 years they spent six months a year in California and six months in Fredericksburg, Virginia, so each could be near their children. Pat passed away peacefully at her home in Fresno on April 24, 2020. Her beloved husband Al passed away in Fresno soon after on May 4, 2020.
Pat is survived by her brother Floyd Goodman, her three children, Steven, Marcia, and Ted, their much-loved spouses Ginger, Burt, and Delia, and nine grandchildren: Chris, Wendi, Lauren, Ian, Katie, Ben, Eliza, Liana, and Georgia. In addition, she had 10 great-grandchildren: Madison, Connor, Rachel, Luke, Tyler, Maddox, Aeris, Avienda, Nova, and Valerian. She received loving care from Al's daughters Liv, Diana, Heidi, and Gail during the last year of her life.
It is Pat's wish that her ashes be buried with those of her husband Al on their property at Lake Anna, Virginia, and in the Goodman family plot with Gene in Fisher, Michigan.
