On Saturday, March 28, 2020, Nancy Lou Kile, sweet and loving mother of two children and two grandchildren, passed away quietly at home at the age of 74. She was born July 26, 1945 in Mentor, Ohio to Milan and Lillian Zedlar. Her parents doted on her as an only child, so much so that family folklore claims that she was carefully carried around on a pillow for at least her first year of life. She attended Mentor High School before enrolling at Kent State University. She spent many years at home raising her children before returning to college later in life to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree in counseling from John Wesley College in 1987. She went on to work there as a financial aid director, and she adored working with students. She continued in that field for many years until she could no longer work due to her struggle with Multiple Sclerosis.

She had a passion (to put it mildly) for crafting. If you knew her, you know. She made so many beautiful things throughout the years. She cross-stitched so well that the back of her pieces were almost as perfect as the front. She loved her hours spent knitting and crocheting blankets, sweaters, baby clothes, stuffed animals, and more. And the scrapbooking – we can’t leave out the scrapbooking. She could have opened a store with all of the scrapbooking supplies she had. Her daughter did not inherit her crafty gene, but she promised to find good homes for all of her extra supplies. Her family is abundantly grateful for all of the wonderful scrapbooks she created.

Nancy was known for her infectious smile and laugh. She made friends wherever she went and loved big. Her generous heart was larger than life, and she was always ready to help others in any way she could. She loved Jesus, Coca-cola, QVC, and the Smokey Mountains. She could often be caught jamming to “Old Time Rock and Roll” or anything by Kenny Rogers. She was a force, and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Kori Meyers and her husband Todd, and her granddaughters, Reagan and Ellie – all of whom she adored and bragged excessively about to anyone who would listen. She is also survived by her precious Aunt “Bobbie” Barbara Humbarger (who was like her sister) and several dear cousins. Nothing brought her more happiness than her family.

Nancy is joyfully reunited with her beloved son Jeffrey after 42 years apart, and her dear parents, Milan and Lillian. And she is whole, and happy, and free.

The current pandemic makes it impossible for us to host a traditional memorial service to celebrate her life, but if future developments allow for either virtual or in person gathering, those plans will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation in her memory.
