Cherished Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Friend passed away peacefully on July 28, 2021 in Rancho Mirage, California. Milton was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 14, 1925 to Alex and Bessie Kaplan. Throughout his 96 years, he had many adventures. Milton was a proud veteran of World War II, who received the Bronze Battle Star for valor in the Battle of Hürtgen Forest—the longest single battle the U.S. Army has ever fought. He was a Wisconsin Badger, lawyer, textile representative, pilot, automobile enthusiast, computer fanatic, wise owl, pen pal, and frequent texter to many. Renowned for his sweet tooth, Milton made frequent stops for ice cream with his kids and their friends. “Milty”, who exuded warmth and caring, left his thumbprint on many people! He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Merri Kaplan; his children Douglas (Karen) Kaplan, Dru Kaplan, and Alex (Olivier Basdevant) Kaplan; his chosen family Juana Estrella and Alexandra Rosas, who called him “Mitchie”; his grandchildren Sarah (Stephen) Pils, Maggie Kaplan-Paliwoda, Annika Kaplan Basdevant; and his great-grandchildren Indie and Leigh Pils. Milton will also be missed by an adoring extended family and many friends, whom he loved. The family is arranging for a private memorial, and Milton will be honored and inurned at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA at a later date.
