Michael O’Brien Higgins, 45, of Frederick, Maryland passed away on the morning of Sunday, February 7, 2021 in Frederick, Maryland. He was born July 12th, 1975, in Alexandria, Virginia.
Michael grew up in Gaithersburg, Maryland, where he attended Gaithersburg High School, graduating in 1993. He was married to Teresa Gayle Peacock in 2001 and spent the last 20 years raising their three kids (Kyra-22, Athena-18, Zander-15) in Frederick, Maryland. Michael and Teresa later divorced in 2018.
Mike was a kind, thoughtful, loving human-being whose passions included reading, watching movies, and gaming. He had a warm heart and a wonderful sense of humor, but more than anything else, he loved his children and devoted his life to raising them, caring for them, and watching them grow. Mike was the intellectual of the family; he loved puzzles, playing chess, science fiction, religion, anything that provoked thought or challenged his mind. Mike loved to laugh and play games, was very social and outgoing, expressed gratitude and went out of his way to make others feel good. Mike (often known as Big-Mike) was a big teddy bear, always giving hugs and telling you that he loved you. Mike will be remembered most for his outgoing, charismatic personality, and his kind and gentle heart.
Mike is survived by his three loving children: Kyra Denise Peacock (22), Athena Reese Higgins (18), and Zander Michael Higgins (15), and ex-wife Teresa Gayle Peacock of Frederick, MD.
He is also survived by his mother, Betty Lee Higgins; siblings, Sandra Higgins, Timothy (Emily) Higgins, David Higgins, and Jennifer Higgins, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Mike’s end-of-life wishes were to be cremated, and to have his ashes scattered into the ocean. Mike will forever live in our hearts and memories, and will be missed terribly.
