Our beloved Michael Moss Konatsu, peacefully passed from this world to Heaven on March 23rd at 4:12PM at his home in Gig Harbor, WA, surrounded by his loving family.  He was 65 years old.  Michael courageously fought a hard battle with stage four lung cancer along with its many complications that kept him in the hospital for three months before coming home with hospice to his family on March 12th. 

Michael was born on January 12, 1954 in Visalia, CA to Masahiko Konatsu and Louise Sumiko Ide.  Throughout his life he was very loving and caring to many. A few major milestones in his life are his marriage to Renee Prinzing on October 25, 1980, whom he had met earlier that same year in March. Michael was a loving and faithful husband to Renee for 39 years.  On January 10, 1982 he began his journey into parenthood and together they raised four wonderful children. He was a beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was known by all for his faith in Jesus Christ, his strong character, compassionate tender heart and witty sense of humor.  He was a very fun-loving guy who talked to everyone like they were old friends and treated all friends like family. His family was his pride and joy.

Michael was always full of spirit and joy as he grew up in the San Joaquin Valley of Central California.  Some of his fondest memories were spending summers with his many cousins and yearly camping trips to Mono Hot Springs, CA with his Grandpa Ide. His love of the mountains lives on in his children's passion for the outdoors.

Michael proudly served in the U.S. Army for 6 years (1972-1978), and always made sure to thank every Veteran he came across for their service.  He started out his career working as a produce broker and transitioned to a full time career as a cardiac monitor technician working in hospital critical care units where he was able to serve many.  Michael was very passionate about Muscle cars and loved his 70’ Cuda. He was known as “the cousin with the fast car.”

He is survived by his loving family: wife Renee Konatsu, father Masahiko Konatsu, mother Louise Sumiko Hirai, four children Kristoffer, Clarissa, Mikayla and Justin, son-in-law Daniel Kim, grandson Titus Kim, brother Matthew Konatsu with his family, sister Sachiko Konatsu with her family and sister Tabitha Hernandez with her family. 

Michael is preceded in death by his second born baby son Brandon Joseph Konatsu on August 18, 1983. Reunited once again.
