OBITUARY
Mary Sidney Pate, born October 17, 1926 to Sidney Lucas and Harris Edward Miller whom have preceded her. Born the second of three children and raised in Chicago going to Englewood High School and attending the Methodist Church with her mother.
Later Mary met the love of her life, Vernon Vernell Pate whom preceded her. Later Mary met the love of her life, Vernon Vernell Pate whom preceded her. They married and settled in Chicago, where they raised their seven children and became foster parents to four granddaughters that she later adopted as her own.
Mary was a dedicated and hard worker. She worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Englewood Hospital and Chicago Board of Health and as a in Home Care Professional. In November 1997 she later moved to Denver, Colorado.
Mary was a devoted wife and loving mother. She was very proud of her family and was excited to become a "Granny" to her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Mary loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. She would spend hours supervising and taste testing the cooking and preparing for her company.
Mary was known for her feisty, yet good sense of humor as well as being in the know. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Vernon Vernell Pate, devoted mother of, Phyllis White (John) preceded her, Vernell Davis (Cedric), Olivia Wheeler, Dawn Grumbach (LeRoy), Christopher Pate (Lucy), Paul Pate (Michelle), Vernon Pate (Deborah), Timika Thompson (Carrie),Shmara Pate, Mary S. Pate (Tyanna) and Dawn Pauline.
She had 33 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews whom lives she touched in one way or another. She was blessed to have various friends along the way.
