We always thought she had many more years of life ahead of her. Marcy accepted others for who they were with kindness. She gave love and comfort to her family with a gentle tenderness and an open mind. She loved to draw, paint, write short stories, play the flute, and the piano. Her fond memories of family summers with her grandparents, parents, brother and cousins in Wapwallopen, Pennsylvania were with her throughout her life and she shared them often. She adored the city of Philadelphia, and the excitement of the museums there and throughout the Northeast. She raised her family in Rochester, NY, and made a point to take her children to every museum and art gallery, and many multi-cultural festivals. She encouraged us to have an interest in the special qualities of various cultures and what makes different groups of people, and individuals, unique. She planned fun and educational vacations to Virginia Beach, Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens that gave us lasting memories. Marcy grew up in Moorestown, NJ and Syracuse NY. She worked as an RN in Rochester, NY, caring for patients with traumatic brain injuries and alzheimer’s disease for many years. She was a great comfort to families when they needed it most. Her faith, and inner strength to persevere inspired her children, patients, and friends. She retired in Christiansburg, VA where she spent much time with her mother, Jane, as they enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, singing harmonies together, and on a celebratory day going out to dinner for their favorite dish, lobster, and reminiscing old times. Her steadfast friend, Kim, who she met at the local museum, gave her great joy and love for many years, and has been a support for her family while she was ill at the end of her life. Marcy is predeceased by her mother and father, Jane and Stephen Maclachlan, and survived by her children Maggie Soff (Evan) and Johnathan Davis (Alanna) and granddaughters, Rylyn and Lila, as well as brother Jeff Maclachlan (Venice), several cousins, and dear friend, Kim Harich. She would often encourage those she loved with the words “Where there is a will, there is a way.” She taught her children to be strong, and create lives filled with perseverance, love, learning, joy, culture, music, art, and family. We will miss her terribly and carry her in our hearts forever.
