Lynn Hagius died on December 29th, 2022, in Hertford, North Carolina.
Lynn was born on January 16, 1948, to Agnes and Homer Hagius, in Cody, Wyoming. The fourth of five siblings, she was given the name Glynna, but preferred Lynn. Lynn grew up in Price, Utah and graduated from high school in Sacramento, California. Lynn moved east for college, and loved her time at the University of Connecticut, where she studied psychology and child development, and made lifelong friendships. She earned a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Hartford. Lynn had a long and fulfilling career with the Social Security Administration. Upon retirement she relocated to Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She was married three times. Her first marriages, to Alden Taplin and then to John Brochu, ended in divorce. Her third husband, Kevin Balas, preceded her in death.
Lynn had an open and generous heart. Her green thumb and knack for decorating and entertaining were legendary. She loved animals and children, and was a doting auntie to her niece and nephews.
Lynn was preceded in death by her siblings John Thomas Hagius and Charles Frederick Hagius.
Lynn did not have any children. She is survived by her siblings Mary Jo Cannarella (Joseph Cannarella) and Hugh Hagius, and neices: Catherine Haines (Eric Haines) and Aspen Hagius, and nephews Ronald Cannarella, Walker Hagius, Dillon Hagius (Anna Humpton), Connor Hagius, Ryan Haines, Evan Haines, and Bridger Hagius.
