Working with Laurie was an absolute pleasure. I was lucky enough to fly with him at lgw for Ba. A gentleman, kind, caring and a brilliant manager, an even better beer buddy too.

Such a lovely kind man, I have such fabulous memories of Laurie both at work and outside from our time with Airtours, especially our Aussie trip. He was always so full of life and such fun to be around, a true gent. Such a tragic loss, sleep tight, RIP x

You took me under your wing when I joined BA, you were present for my first Kingston and first stint in World Traveller and said ‘You’re not meant to be here!’. You took me under your wing and told me to never lose my dedication or my passion for the company and the job. You were a pillar of support in my final days at BA and after. I have such fond memories. I wear the Concorde pin you gave me on my apron at work, the BASSA tag you gave me is attached to my cabin bag and the wonderful Birthday cards remain in my briefing folder for those down days when I need something to make me smile and laugh. I can’t watch Brief Encounter without remembering you impersonate the lady behind the bar, I can’t listen to people like us- airline pilot, without remembering the laughs we had reenacting scenes from it on countless trips. Being asked to leave Managers cocktails at the Pegasus after knocking over a tray of sandwiches and asking about the crime rates, the whole time you just rolling your eyes at me. Taking afternoon tea very seriously in Antigua when neither of us wanted to be there. Boarding in Grenada, making full use of the First cabin to put economy in their place. Playing pranks on the other crew, often launching into huge detail to get the right response from them. You were the first face I saw after getting off my first long haul as Purser in Male, where you greeted we with the same pride as my parents when I got the role. Telling crew we had both joined the company when it was Imperial Airways. Thank you for everything, I will miss your reassuring words, your humour and your energy.. We will meet again. less
