Jaya Krishnan is survived by his wife, Anuradha; his daughters, Dvaita and Pajaka; his brothers, JayaRaghavendran, JayaVasudevan, Jayasridhar, JayaSatyaDhyana; and his sisters JayaParimala, Jayasri, and JayaSudha. JayaKrishnan was born in Villupuram, Tamilnadu, India to Sri J.L.N. Acharya and Smt. Lakshmi Devi.
Jaya Krishnan was a devoted family man and a lover of nature and hiking. He participated in numerous marathons along with hiking around the many treks in the Himalayas. He was an enthusiastic advocate of Indian Classical music and dance.
In 2009, Krishnan initiated an Annual event for children and youth in the greater San Diego area to encourage them to continue to learn Indian Classical art forms of music and dance. This event also served as a platform for the local budding artists to showcase their talent. He, along with his wife Anu Krishnan, conducted this program annually without a break, until the COVID-19 pandemic as a tribute to Saint Purandara Dasa for his Aradhana.
Jaya Krishnan was very active and volunteered in the local communities such as the San Diego Tamil Sangam and the Kannada Sangha. He also was passionate about acting and has played roles in the local drama and theatre productions in San Diego.
He served as the Director of Global Databases and Applications at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Carlsbad, CA. He was a leader and executive providing transformative technology solutions.
A resident of the San Diego community for 25+ years, Jaya Krishnan shared much admiration for all his beloved friends and colleagues.

As I interacted with him and get to know more, I discovered that he is working behind almost every cultural aspect, whether it's Kannada or Tamil Sangham, Purandara Dasa/Tyagaraja Aaradhana festivals or inviting artists from India and arranging for music concerts or encouraging local artist to perform in the cultural festivals. He always used to work behind the scenes tireless to deliver a perfect cultural package and treat, starting from arranging spacious venues to pre-concert snacks to after concert Lunch/dinner.
When I asked him why he spends so much of his resources and time, his answer was amazing “For Future (Generations)", he continued, we are responsible for carrying on legacy of our culture from parents to next generation. (I remember him saying, his father used to do same in India). If I start documenting every interaction and conversation with him and wisdom learned, it won't be finished even after several hundred pages and won't be complete anytime soon.
My Heartfelt condolences to Anuradhaji,Dwaita and Paajaka and extended family, May Hari Vaayu give you the courage and strengths to overcome loss at this difficult time.
I think best tribute to Jaya Krishnaji would be to carry on his legacy thru continuation of his work, which he did so perfectly.

I am shocked and saddened that my friend Jayakrishnan is no more. I myself cannot handle this news. So how can I console you all – for you this is a huge personal loss. I remember evry interection I had with him. He was an exceptional man, a very good leader who honestly served the community. All the functions he organized brought together very happy people that enjoyed the program he planned. He was always smiling and had something genuine about what he was doing. This is a big loss for the San Diego community.

Dear Anu, Dwaita and Pajaka, our deepest condolences to you all on this great loss from me and all my students. We very fondly remember our participation in the Purandara Dasa Aradhana every year and how meticulously organized it was. Krish Lakshmin was so dedicated, and put in so much effort and time into the concerts. My students have and cherish the awards given to them each year. He brought the whole musical community together - musicians, singers and dancers. He will be missed. My students and myself will be hosting a special zoom concert on July 10 in his memory. less

We have known Krish and his family for more than 15 years and always admired his energy and selfless service to the San Diego community. He was a tireless organizer and often told me how important it is to preserve Indian traditional/classical arts and culture and provide opportunity for the next generation to imbibe the Indian experience and showcase their talents. His and Anu's annual Purandaradasa Aradhana was an important cultural event in San Diego and something we looked forward to each year. Krish's meticulous planning and his effort to involve others in the process of organizing the event made it truly a community event. I can never forget the way he heartily greeted people he met and his ebullient personality was so infectious. Krish will be dearly missed.
Anu, Dvaita & Pajaka, we share your sorrow in this hour of grief and irreplaceable loss. You are in our thoughts and prayers and you can count on us for any help to find solace and keep Krish's legacy going.

Absolutely a wonderful individual. A Gem who worked for GIA! A fitting carrier for him. Know him for many years and interacted with him on many fronts like Tamil Sangam & Kaalam Maarinal Tamil play. No matter where it is, it was a real pleasure to be with his company.
In the Tamil play, he acted as 'Ettappan' who was summoned by Jackson as a translator. The moment he stepped in that scene, he owned the stage. Created his own dialogues and gave that character life. I vividly remember discussing with him about that character and that's it. He took it to a new dimension. I will post those scenes later. It is a must-see. I only wish I had the time machine from that play to go back in time and meet him for one more time.
I am typing this message with a big lump in my throat. Glad my fingers can still function.
A big loss to Tamil and the Kannada communities. I will miss my dear friend. Rest in peace, my dear friend. You will be dearly remembered for all of us for many decades.
