Julio Ponce, 93, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2020. He is survived by his son, Julio Antonio (Tony) Ponce, his daughter, Hilda Damiani, and granddaughters Maya, Sarah, and Lisa.
Julio was born in Ignacio de la Llave, Vera Cruz Mexico to Marciano Leopoldo Ponce and Magdalena Martinez de Ponce as the youngest of his five siblings: Paulino, Elodia, Leopoldo (Polo) and Rosa.
Julio met and fell in love with Dora Portugal in 1948 and spent the rest of their lives together until Dora's death in 2011.They moved to Los Angeles in 1950 with their son, Tony, and years later had their daughter, Hilda.
In California, Julio worked as a silversmith at Beverly Hills Plating Works with his brother Polo for many years. After his retirement at age 62, Julio and Dora took to traveling, including trips up the coast of California into Oregon and Washington and a Holy Land tour visiting many countries. Despite his retirement, Julio continued to work in the silversmith business for many years, and continually had clients and commissions for his skills.
Julio and Dora relocated to San Antonio, TX in 1998 after the birth of their youngest granddaughter, Maya, where they both spent the rest of their time.
