On September 11, 2019, a day that is remembered each year by this country, now adds another hero to mourn. Johnny Dwight Garrard, passed away suddenly with his family surrounding him. He struggled with many health issues through the years, but fought strong up until the very end. We live in hope of seeing him again one day in full restoration and no more pain.
Dwight was born on January 30, 1955 in Griffin, Georgia. He is survived by his family, Susan, Hannah, and Elise. His brother, Forrest Garrard, and sisters, Judy Conquest, Geraldine Allen, Darinda Holliday, Phyllus Rigsby, Alesia Freeman. He also has two granddaughters, Harper and Aviana. Dwight was the owner of Garrard's Japanese Automotive from 1995-2017. He was a trusted and honest mechanic, always fair and making sure the job was done right. His customers knew they could rely on him and were saddened when he retired in 2017.
He cared so deeply for his family and friends, always willing to help any way he could. He truly enjoyed a good football game and discovering new music, a collector of thousands of songs. We will miss his bear hugs and smiling chuckle with a wink, letting us know it’s all okay.
