John Ray Hutcherson passed away in the afternoon of August 18, 2021 after a long and fiercely fought battle with cancer, his daughters by his side.
John was a lifelong pursuer of spiritual understanding and transcendence. Although he started his journey in Missouri, he spent his life drawn to experiences around the globe in his quest as both student and teacher, impacting many fellow seekers' lives along the way.
John’s childhood with his brother Dane was filled with the normal pursuits of childhood, including marbles, bicycle rides, and Eagle Scouts. As a young man he moved to St. Louis and began working on the earliest computers, a hobby and sometime profession he would continue throughout his life. However, it was his introduction to the teachings of G.I. Gurdjieff and J.G. Bennett while he was there, that would change his path forever.
That path including meaningful years spent in Sherbourne, England; Claymont, W.V.; and Billings, MT, among other places. He met Susan in Sherbourne and together they had three daughters, Cendri, Miri and Jill, with whom they shared an incredible breadth of guidance and wisdom.
John continued his journey innumerable places including Massachusetts, Costa Rica, Santa Fe, and Israel, always delving into the relationship between the physical, astral and causal worlds. With various groups, he explored concepts like the Law of Three; the Decision exercise; and what became his focus at the end of his life, merging insights from EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniquee) and the Fourth Way. His essential truth was the study and teaching of a deeper meaning and connectedness to the cosmos, even up to his final breaths. Even in death, he posited that this would simply be the next transition in his pursuit of understanding and development of being.
So although we grieve the loss of our father and friend, we are comforted by the idea that this is simply the next step in his travels, with new lessons to be learned and a greater understanding of the universe ever-present on the horizon.
