OBITUARY

Jeanjoernst Germain was born Jean Joseph Ernst Germain on August 6th 1950 to the late Antoine Gerald Germain and Virgine Mathurin Germain in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He was the oldest of 5 children to his parents. “Ti Ness” attended Lycee Alexandre Petion in his youth and played on the school’s soccer team from 1967- 1971. He was the oldest of 5 children to his parents. “Ti Ness” attended Lycee Alexandre Petion in his youth and played on the school’s soccer team from 1967- 1971. He searched for the gospel of Christ and was baptized August 1973 at Eglise du Christ: Cite Cadet. He studied bookkeeping at Spring Hill College in 1975. Jean met Marie N. Pierre in December 1979 and was wedded in July 1980. Jean and Marie became parents to Virviane (Malibu) and Mikaernst (Mika). Jean migrated to the United States with their eldest daughter in April, 1986. Shortly after he sought aid to assemble the Haitian congregation at the Flatlands Church of Christ. In June 1986, Marie N. and their second daughter migrated to the United States, bringing the family together again. While establishing life in the United States, Marie gave birth to daughter Jhosernst. Late 1989, Jean started working as a school bus driver transporting youth with disabilities throughout the boroughs of New York City. In time, the family grew with the birth of their only son Nickernst (Nickey) and their youngest daughter Nernst (Nunu). Jean served the Haitian congregation in a multitude of ways from preaching the gospel of Christ, baptizing souls into Christ’s church, utilizing his gift of public speaking in most special to rare occasions, supporting families during adverse times and to lend a hand or a ride. The Haitian congregation branched out to the Roosevelt – Freeport Long Island where they began and continue to evangelize to members living in the neighboring communities. He loved to speak words of fairness to resolve conflict and shared a smile with laughter to warm the hearts of everyone he came in contact with. In 2015 on Jeanjoernst’s 65th birthday, the Haitian Church of Christ commemorated his 42 years of ministry. In May 2016, the Haitian Church of Christ expanded to their current location 5109 Foster Avenue, where he was able to witness this momentous occasion with brethren. He loved attending to Kingdom’s business on all forefronts stretching from Boston MA, parts of Florida, internationally in France and back home in Haiti. Jeanjoernst remained faithful and prayed with brethren the night before he departed life early on March 19th 2020 in Hempstead, NY. He succumbed to diabetes at the age of 69 years old. Jeanjoernst leaves his legacy to be cherish by his wife Marie N. Germain, his children Virviane, Mikaernst, Jhosernst, Nickernst and Nernst. Grandchildren Brianna, Adrianne, David, Mikayla and Christian. Brothers Guy R. Germain and Lionel Germain, Sisters Mireille Germain, Antonine (Germain) Pollas and Marie Claude Germain; sons-in law Ian and Abraham; The Germain Family; The Mathurin Family; The Pierre Family; Countless aunts, uncles, cousin, nieces and nephews; His best man Jean Dumas Gay; The Haitian Church of Christ’s leadership and Brethren in Christ all over the world.
