Thank you for joining in celebrating of the life of Janet Renee Haitoff. Janet was born in Brooklyn, New York September 1, 1932. Her parents were Harry and Henrietta and younger siblings are Florence and Melvin. Florence, the middle child, unfortunately passed away 15 years ago. Melvin, the youngest of the family lives with his family on Long Island.
Since childhood Janet's pride and joy has always been her family. Janet deeply loved and cared for her 4 children, Linda, Alisa, Alan and Barry, her 6 grandchildren, Shoshana, Sidney, Jada, Laurel, Sean and Rita, and her 5 great grandchildren, Lailah, Yehuda, Shimon, Yosef and Levi.
Like her own Mom, Janet was always active, walking and taking public transportation everywhere. She loved to bowl on Brooklyn leagues for over 40 years. Then she discovered the gym!! Bally's on Kings Highway and Coney Island Avenue was her new go to. She'd go to the gym 3 times per week and work with a wonderful trainer who taught her weight training and kickboxing. She loved telling the story of how she would tell her trainer "let's do one more set, come-on, I can do 10 more!" Janet also loved playing games. She was an ace at Scrabble, beating her opponents most of the time. She loved all the word games on her I-pad and some of her other favorites were Trouble, Yahtzee, Racko-O, Checkers, Rummy, Casino, Dominoes and more. It didn't matter what it was, Janet was always up for a game, an adventure, a movie a show or a meal. Her joy was in the company she kept while doing those things or anything. Sitting at home watching a movie together was just fine. Anyone who met Janet would immediately notice her smile and instantly feel her kind, sweet and caring demeanor. Janet was very gentle and loving and will be remembered with a smile by all who knew and loved her. Janet enriched her family and her friends and made this world a kinder, better place.
