Jane Warner 1930 - 2020 - Mystic, Connecticut - Jane T. (Pietrowski) Warner passed away on December 15, 2020 in Mystic, Connecticut at age 90. She was born in Norwich, Connecticut on September 3, 1930. Jane was graduated from Norwich Free Academy and earned her secretarial certificate. In 1951, she married Harry H. Warner and they were happily married for 48 years until his passing. Jane was an Executive Secretary at Norwich Hospital until her retirement in 1989; she subsequently served on the Connecticut State Retirees Board. She moved to Academy Point at Mystic, an assisted living community, in 2014.
Jane was a highly intelligent woman with an amazing sense of humor, incredible wit, and a kind heart, creating extraordinarily special bonds with family and friends. Her baking and cooking skills were legendary and her cake decorating classes were well-attended. Jane loved chocolate, shopping, and animals, especially her cherished dogs. She was a devout Catholic and an active volunteer at the Cathedral of St. Patrick in Norwich. Jane and her husband planted hundreds of flowers around the Cathedral, filled gift baskets for those in need, and prepared meals at the rectory during holidays. She grew up speaking Polish and retained her knowledge of that language throughout her life. In her retirement years, Jane traveled to Poland to explore her heritage and also to Italy where she was blessed at the Vatican by Pope John Paul, II, the first Polish pope.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; parents, Sophie and Walter Pietrowski; brothers, Stanley, Walter, and Joseph; and, sisters, Christine Willis and Caroline Roberts. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their children; goddaughters; and many friends and neighbors who will miss her dearly. Her life, well-lived is a lasting inspiration.
Due to COVID-19 concerns and restrictions, a Memorial Service will be held in Jane's memory at a future date, currently scheduled for a January 22, 2022 virtual GatheringUs Celebration of Life Tribute. Her family is very grateful for the compassionate care provided by Academy Point at Mystic and VITAS Healthcare nurses, especially during her final days.
