Mr. Gregory Edward Schweizer was born to Laird Hansen Schweizer (Father) and Ann Patricia Dowling (Mother) on February 13, 1985, in Johnson City, New York, U.S.A. He graduated from South Raleigh High School (Raleigh, North Carolina, U.S.A) in June 2003 and was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from North Carolina State University in 2012.
Mr. Schweizer loved science, animals, and ecology. After graduation, he volunteered his time and skills as a lab technician at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh until 2016.
Mr. Schweizer was an author and an avid reader, and enjoyed spending time in natural settings. He was also very passionate about languages, their origins, and development. He studied Latin in college, and engrossed himself in the German language through reading, self-study, and coursework at local universities.
In June 2017, Mr. Schweizer was awarded a Technician Class Operator License in the Amateur Radio Service by the Federal Communications Commission. His Amateur Radio callsign was WD4GES.
Mr. Schweizer was happily married to his husband of three and a half years, Mr. Israel Pattison. They were married in Raleigh in June 2018. At the time of his death, Mr. Schweizer lived with Mr. Pattison in Raleigh. He was as a homemaker, husband, son, and brother to the members of his family.
Mr. Schweizer is survived by his husband, mother, father, brother Maxwell Schweizer and his wife Amanda Kiehm, sister Haley Schweizer and her husband Jay Palacio, and three house cats whom he loved: Dodger, Dex, and Sun Spot.
