Gavin was born in Taumaranui, New Zealand and grew up on his family's sheep and beef farm. He loved horsepower, especially in the form of John Deere Tractors and Porsche's. He started driving a tractor long before most. He started racing motorbikes and cars when he was young and ultimately became a very accomplished Rally Racer. His racing continued when he moved to the U.S. as an adult. He raced at many tracks across the country accumulating multiple wins and podium finishes. For 20 years he owned AutoQuest, specializing in car sales and Porsche's. His greatest passions in life were traveling, racing, John Deere Tractors, his grandson, and friends. He treasured the relationships and conversations he had with friends. Gavin is survived by his wife Amy, his son Adam, and 3 step children Meagan, Lindsey, and Ian, his sister and brother in law Gayle and Dennis Sherson and a large extended family living in New Zealand.

His desire to teach and help us all enjoy the driving and the day with his easy going style and unstoppable optimism leaves me grateful I had a chance to know him. Thanks for everything Gavin, tremendously fun and helpful, you will always be missed. With sadness and appreciation, Roger Wilson less
